When Day Meets Night is a Black American narrative which gives parents a true account of what life looks like when a son is attacked by street life and prison.
The story takes us back to the year 2001 in New York City during the post crack era when guns and violence were a way of life in the Mecca of black love, Harlem. The two main characters are young men surviving in the same neighborhood yet living two complete different lives. The first, Von, hard working and focus on his career in the music industry with the love of his life Ebony, and Red a stone cold killing street nigga and master in the art of the jux (robbery).
One typical Friday night their paths cross and the predator believes he has found his prey, but he is quickly surprised by the outcome. Red’s botched robbery attempt leads to Von shooting at him in self defense with Red’s own gun.
Later in a cruel twist of fate Von becomes a victim of the justice system and is convicted and sent to prison for firing the same gun used against him in the robbery.
Years later Von’s hellish prison experience is exacerbated when he sees Red. Von has changed and Red does not recognize the man whose life he derailed.
When Day Meets Night is a story about young Black Men written for the Black American. For parent whose child may be enticed by street life, or women who have fallen in love with a gangster The characters are gritty and authentic, the writing style is New York, and the message is clear.
